Jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand from 14th February to 29th March, the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup is the 11th instance to be held. Fourteen teams will have played 49 matches in 14 venues. Australia hosting 26 games at grounds in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney and New Zealand hosting 23 games in Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, Hamilton, Napier, Nelson and Wellington.
The final match of the tournament will take place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. A stadium which, Cisco Systems and IBM are set to turn into one of Australia's most technically advanced stadiums, as part of a $45 million upgrade.
Cisco Sports & Entertainment solutions and Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) upgrade plans include a super-fast, secure, high-density Wi-Fi network in and around the stadium, allowing fans to access real-time and interactive content and to engage with other fans.
Furthermore, later in this year Cisco will open US$15 million 'Internet of Everything' (IoE) innovation centre in Australia. IoE represents the explosion of connectivity among people, processes, data and things which could surge from some 13 billion today to more than 50 billion in 2020. IoE and the notion of “connecting the unconnected” present staggering economic opportunities.
However, Cisco projects the total Internet of Everything value over the next 10 years to be $19 trillion. The ability to harness the digitisation that makes up IoE — cloud, mobility, social media, analytics, security, the Internet of Things (IoT) — will determine the winners and losers of the next decade.
Additionally, CISCO Live Melbourne 2015 has just being held from 17-20 March, 2015. It offered a unique combination of in-depth technical education and training and cutting-edge insight from the experts and organisations that are setting the agenda for the future of technology and business.
